Tell us about your favorite boating apps. Here are the apps that I use regularly: Boating Suite (of course because it's my app - www.boatingsuite.com Navionics. I have all of my waypoints marked and I use to create tracks and track the number of miles I travel for each outing. My non-boating owning guests like it when I email them a link to the track. Fish Hunter. I have the portable Fish Hunter Pro sonar that I use for fishing. It works great. BoatUS because I have insurance through them. ProKnot. You'd think I'd have all of the knots memorized but I don't. Dark Sky. This is my favorite weather app. It gives the conditions and forecast for your exact GPS location and will give alerts such as "Rain starting in 10 minutes". What other great apps are you using?
I use Navionics. Great for depths in the parts of the lake I am not familiar with, and a course tracker to get home safely after dark.
Agree with the tracks for traveling after dark. I know my lake well but it still helps to stay on a known course. Forgot about Sail Flow... great app!
I also use Ship finder and Buoy Data. Buoy Data is a NOAA app that provides great information. Ship Finder is just fun to play with.
Does the Fish Hunter connect using wifi or Bluetooth? I've been looking at Fish Hunter and Deeper Sonar plus that connects by wifi (the reviews said the Bluetooth kept losing connection. Still debating on portable or a mounted fish finder/gps combo unit. I am Hesitant putting any hole in the boat.
I agree, I was hesitant to put a hole the boat and that's why I went with the Fish Hunter... I love it. It connects via wifi and I haven't had a single problem with it losing a connection. In fact, I had a Lowrance unit in my old Sea Ray and the Fish Hunter is as good, if not better. The accuracy is pretty amazing...you won't be disappointed.
