I'm looking at ordering the new cobalt r5- the dealer is recommending the volvo 350 horse engine, wanted to see what the opinion is on going to either 380 or 430 horse, going to be using boat on fresh water lake, doing some tubing and water skiing , we also will entertain a lot so will have 8-11 people on boat often, wanted to see if 350 horse is enough, not worried about hitting highest mph but also don't want a slug out there, any advice appreciated Jim
I have the 350 in my 2019 R5. It’s generally 2 of us, but often have 6-8 on board. I don’t do hole shots, but throttle up as we get on plane. I have no issue on how the boat handles the load.
