I have a list of things I want to get done to the boat this Spring. The tilt/trim indicator isn't working quite right so I'll probably piddle with adjusting the sending unit on the outdrive and hope that take care of it. Also the tachometer isn't working. I have the 8.1 Gxi-a engine and I'm not sure where the sending unit is for the tach or what voltage to be looking for at the gage.

    Any guidance?

In regards to the trim gauge on the Volvo outdrive, if you can’t adjust it, the sending unit may have been damaged. One thing that can happen to the sending unit is that the pivot pin under the sending unit can back out and damage it, making it impossible to adjust.

With regard to the tach, they can go bad, so check all wire connections to ensure there is good contact and continuity.
